Lead Frontend Developer (Paced)

Role overview

We’ve released our first version on the App Store. It is still far away from the vision we have, but we’ll get there step by step.

But achieving this vision means complexity: the app will grow in features and scenarios to adapt to various schedules. And to support such complexity, we need experienced developers to work on UI architecture that would scale. And that is where you come in!

As our UI Lead, your main goal would be to work with a product manager and designers to implement new features while simultaneously thinking about reorganizing the app’s architecture to scale those new capabilities beyond just the mobile app. While still keeping the user’s happiness and success as a top priority.

Organizationally, you would work in 3 to 6-week cycles following Shape Up methodology. That means that you and your teammates would be responsible for converting a high-level description of a problem into a working product within a fixed time frame. So, the scope of the solution would be up to you as soon as it solves the users’ needs.

Challenges

Paced is a novel approach to time management in general. However, it still has all the intricacies of classical calendars: shifting timezones, various use-cases, competing and incompatible APIs, and a lot of legacy in the field. And all that on top of all classical challenges of having mobile and web apps together.

Currently, we have a modern iOS React Native app written in TypeScript. But our goal is to have web and Android versions as well, so architecturally you would need to think about the shared core that could be reused across those versions.

About you

• You’ve done something like this before.
• You’re great at understanding the direction and figuring the plan by yourself.
• You’re great at wearing different “hats” every day, and it is clear to you that roles can be blurry sometimes at early-stage startups.
• You’re good with TypeScript and React.
• You love small UI details, and you love to code them.

As a plus:

• Fullstack experience.
• Experience with React Native.
