How they work
They usually work on the new features in a small group of 1-3 developers & one designer. They are using the approach described by Basecamp for project management called Shape Up.
About the job
As a programmer on their monolith team, you will work on various features and participate in refactoring the codebase.
In their team, they have dedicated front-end programmers, but you still need to understand how their front-end structured and be able to cover features from A to Z.
Here are some things they’ve worked on recently to give you a sense of what you’ll be doing day-to-day:
- Marketing funnels, and email-marketing features.
- Page builder and improvements of current Liquid-based templates.
- Analytics for live-streaming & videos.
- Complex subscription billing & team subscriptions.
About you
You know Ruby on Rails and have a desire to learn the whole stack from Ruby to JavaScript. You want to become a Manager of One. You take ownership and you're trying deeply understand each feature and code change.
Their front-end teammates are working on more complex problems and helping maintain their component library, so rails engineers will not need to go into nitty-gritty details unless they want to.
What they will require from you
- Excellent communication skills (Russian & English).
- Desire to understand business logic and help customers.
- Happiness without toxic behavior.
- Excellent knowledge of Ruby language and Rails framework.
- JavaScript knowledge — is a big plus. They are using Vue.js with Inertia.js.
- Rails doctrine commitment.
Remote
They are a remote team distributed in different time zones, so they develop a rule of overlapping time from 9 to noon EST time.
