Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux and Networking)

Responsibilities

• Deployment and maintenance of bare-metal servers at our sites: BIOS/UEFI, firmware, out-of-band management, OS.
• Building and maintaining network infrastructure: BGP/OSPF, policy-based routing, site-to-site and client VPN, firewalls (FortiGate), links and cross-connects in data centers.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting of servers, networks, and communication links, participation in the on-duty rotation.
• Performance tuning of servers and networks: kernel and NIC tuning, IRQ affinity, CPU isolation, bonding, kernel bypass (Onload), time synchronization (PTP/NTP), multicast traffic delivery.
• Automation and configuration management: Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI. Changes go through the repository and code review, not by hand on production.
• Maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS, Alibaba Cloud): compute, storage, networking and connectivity to our sites.
• Documentation: runbooks, network diagrams, inventory (NetBox or similar).

Requirements

• 5+ years as an infrastructure, network or SRE engineer with production responsibility.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining bare-metal servers.
• Deep Linux knowledge: networking stack (routing, iptables/nftables, bonding, VLAN, namespaces), systemd, kernel and NIC tuning, analysis tools (perf, strace/bpftrace, ethtool, tcpdump).
• Deep networking knowledge: TCP/IP, BGP and OSPF, PBR, IPsec, multicast. Hands-on experience with hardware routers, switches and firewalls (FortiGate, Cisco, Arista or similar).
• Ansible and Terraform: writing roles and modules, experience with infrastructure as code.
• Systematic approach to incident diagnostics.
• English for documentation and vendor communication (B2+).

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience tuning servers and network equipment for microsecond-level latency: kernel bypass (Onload), PTP, hardware timestamping.
• Cloud networking in AWS and Alibaba Cloud.
• Experience with geographically distributed networks, carriers, link providers and data centers.
