Quant Research Lead (ML)

We are a technology-driven trading firm operating across the full stack – from strategy research to low-latency execution infrastructure. The company is scaling rapidly, with a strong emphasis on performance, ownership, and continuous iteration.

We're looking for a hands-on player-coach role owning the path from ML research to production P&L, and building the firm's junior quant bench. The primary objective is to turn research into deployed, monitored strategies at a predictable cadence – and to turn strong graduates into productive researchers who ship.

Responsibilities

• Own the idea-to-production pipeline end to end: intake and prioritization, backtest standards, promotion gates, live monitoring and decay reviews.
• Build and run a pod of 3–6 junior researchers: participate in hiring, set tasks, review code daily, own development plans and graduation of researchers to trading desks.
• Define and enforce validation standards – purged and combinatorial cross-validation, multiple-testing control, leakage prevention – as promotion criteria, not guidelines.
• Drive the ML-for-execution agenda with trading desks: fill quality, markouts, queue-aware modeling.
• Maintain a personal research contribution every quarter.
• Coordinate handoff of graduated researchers and production strategies with desk leads and the production owner.

Requirements

• 5+ years in quantitative research or trading with a live production track record; first-hand understanding of the backtest-to-production gap.
• 2+ years directly managing 2+ researchers: hiring, task-setting, reviews, at least one hard people decision.
• Strong Python and a modern ML stack; able and willing to review code daily.
• Rigorous validation methodology as a working habit, not theory.
• A teaching or mentoring track record is a strong plus.
• Futures and market-microstructure experience is a plus.
• English – B2+.
