Our team brings talent from Jump, Citadel, HRT, GSR, Google, Palantir, and we are looking to expand it, adding Backend Developer (API team) to focus on GTE's programmatic trading APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize our API stack and SDK, including REST and websocket protocols used for trading, account management, and real-time data (e.g., token prices, liquidity snapshots, order book depth).
• Collaborate on performance-sensitive components of the matching engine and gateway logic.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to refine API specs, improve latency profiles, and ensure feature completeness.
• Integrate exchange components (e.g., matching, clearing, account state) into a coherent API interface.
• Drive rigorous benchmarking, load testing, and latency instrumentation.
• Help maintain test harnesses, documentation, and versioning for production APIs.

Qualifications

• Remarkable engineering experience with distributed backend systems, especially performance-critical or real-time APIs.
• Strong command of Go/Rust/Python/Java/Typescript and comfort writing async networked services.
• Experience with API design patterns (e.g., OpenAPI, gRPC, REST, websockets), and best practices around versioning, authentication, and rate-limiting.
• Familiarity with trading system architectures, including order lifecycle, matching logic, account state, and reconciliation.
• Proven ability to design and debug in high-throughput, concurrent environments.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Rust or Python, especially in latency-sensitive applications.
• Prior experience building exchange gateways, FIX engines, or trading APIs.
• Knowledge of crypto wallet models, transaction signing, and on-chain order flows.
• Familiarity with HFT, quant trading, or simulation environments.
• Exposure to market access tooling (e.g., colocation, order routers, pre-trade risk).

• 150-250k USD/year gross salary + tokens (up to 750k total compensation by current valuation).
