Team Lead C++ (HFT)

We are looking for an experienced C++ Team Lead to join a high-performance trading technology team in Amsterdam. This role involves leading one of the key engineering groups responsible for building and optimising ultra-low-latency trading systems used across multiple global markets. The work is highly technical and research-driven, with close collaboration alongside quantitative researchers and infrastructure engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance trading systems using modern C++ (C++17+).
• Conduct production tests to evaluate exchange protocols, market data feeds, and system competitiveness, with a focus on optimising latency and fill ratio.
• Develop low-latency inference solutions across different hardware environments.
• Select optimal hardware/software configurations to meet latency and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with quants, researchers, business development, and other engineering teams to improve trading workflows and system performance.
• Requirements.
• 5+ years of professional experience in C++ development.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or newer).
• Solid understanding of operating systems, networks, performance optimisation, and computer architecture.
• Expertise with Linux.
• Experience working on high-load, complex distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Curiosity, ownership mindset, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience building low-latency systems.
• Python proficiency.
• Knowledge of networking stack (L1/L2, TCP/UDP).
• Strong understanding of x86-64 architecture.
• Participation in programming competitions (ICPC, IOI, CTF, etc.).
