We are launching a new, strategically-focused Origination function at Plata as part of our expansion in Colombia. The product will be built on top of Plata’s existing internal frameworks, which will require thoughtful adaptation and further enhancement. As the Engineering Manager, you will shape the team’s technical direction, guide experienced engineers, and make key decisions around architecture, integrations, compliance, and tooling. Your leadership will strengthen the technical foundation that supports Plata’s launch and long-term growth.
Challenges that await you
- Leading the team in hiring, planning, task decomposition, process improvements, and cross-team collaboration.
- Overseeing team performance, ensuring on-time project delivery aligned with business goals.
- Solving complex challenges, conducting code reviews, and ensuring high-quality solutions.
- Contributing to the architecture, design, and development of Golang backend services.
What makes you a great fit
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams (hiring, development, performance, and delivery management).
- A strong technical background and development experience, enabling you to participate in architectural discussions and validate the team's technical solutions.
- Excellent cross-team communication skills and the ability to build partnerships.
- 4+ years of experience as a Go Developer.
- Experience in building and optimizing development processes (planning, decomposition, retrospectives).
- Diplomacy and the ability to advocate for your position and the team's interests with well-reasoned arguments.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and collaborate effectively.
Your bonus skills
- Work experience with vendor solutions.
- Experience working with payment or fintech systems.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.).
- Background in performance tuning, database reliability.
