We’re looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to become the key technical leader shaping the future of our grocery delivery ecosystem. In this role, you’ll drive reliability, scalability, and engineering excellence across teams and partners worldwide.
You’ll collaborate with the Head of Engineering, Engineering Managers, and product/operations leads to define and execute the technical strategy for a fast-growing business line that connects millions of users with local grocery partners.
This is a hybrid strategic and hands-on position – part architect, part mentor, part system-level problem solver. You’ll be the technical backbone of the Groceries vertical, ensuring seamless integrations, strong system design, and continuous growth in technical maturity.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Drive the tech strategy and roadmap, collaborating with the Head of Engineering and Engineering Managers of Groceries teams to co-create a development plan that aligns with business priorities.
- Architectural Excellence: Design robust, scalable, and high-performance architectural solutions, particularly focusing on handling high-load systems to meet the demanding needs of inDrive’s platform.
- Raise Engineering Maturity: Deep dive into current technical implementations of our Groceries business, preparing a strategic plan for growing maturity and evolution systems, introducing best practices in reliability, observability, and CI/CD processes.
- Product Excellence: Ensure product quality by adhering to SLAs, enhancing testability, and ensuring scalability to support millions of users worldwide.
- Mentor & Influence: Guide senior engineers, drive architectural reviews, and champion a culture of technical excellence across teams. Collaborate with Groceries teams to strengthen their architecture, stability, and engineering culture.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in Staff, Principal, or similar senior technical leadership roles.
- Product and Business Mindset: Ability to balance technical leadership with a strong understanding of business goals, ensuring engineering projects align with product vision, market demands, and revenue objectives. Experience making technology decisions that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Proven experience designing or scaling high-load, high-availability platforms.
- Experience building or evolving technical maturity frameworks, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to influence across engineering, product, and partner organizations.
- Hands-on mindset: able to dive into architecture and code when needed, while staying strategic and pragmatic.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservice architectures, and system design patterns.
