We work closely with Colibrix, a UK-based, FCA-regulated Payment Service Provider and authorized Electronic Money Institution (EMI, reference number 927920). Colibrix is a Principal Member of Mastercard and specializes in providing advanced global payment solutions, including:

• Global card processing.
• Digital wallet operations.
• Cross-border merchant accounts.
• Multiple alternative payment methods (APMs) support.
• Corporate accounts for legal entities.

Location: Barcelona, Riga, Warsaw, or Malta (visa and moving expenses covered)

Salary

From €200,000 gross per year + highly competitive performance-based bonus (flexible employment options available) and opportunity to acquire equity in the company based on performance and contribution to business growth.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Group CTO to define and execute Mellifera’s & Colibrix’s technology strategy, ensuring that product development, engineering, and business objectives are fully aligned.

• Leads cross-functional engineering teams (50+ employees, including CISO).

Key Requirements

• 7+ years in IT (experience in fintech, SaaS, e-commerce, or digital businesses).
• 3+ years in a senior leadership role (CTO, VP of Engineering, or Tech Lead).
• Proven experience leading large-scale remote/distributed teams.
• Expertise in distributed IT architecture, DevOps, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, CI/CD.
• Deep understanding of global payment systems & banking infrastructure (acquiring, open banking, VISA/MC, SEPA, SWIFT, etc.).
• Strong financial & business acumen: ability to assess ROI of tech investments, budgeting, and cost management.
• Strategic mindset – ability to align tech development with business objectives.
• Cybersecurity & compliance expertise: knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, PCI DSS, and fintech-specific regulatory requirements.
• Fluent in Russian & English.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Architecture

• Define the tech stack and scalable architecture to support global fintech operations.
• Develop a roadmap for Mellifera’s & Colibrix’s product and platform scalability.
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and security of IT infrastructure.

Team & Process Leadership

• Build and lead a world-class engineering team (hiring, mentoring, and retention).
• Implement best-in-class software development practices (Agile, Lean, Scrum, Kanban).
• Optimize DevOps and CI/CD processes to accelerate time-to-market.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

• Lead CISO & cybersecurity strategy to protect systems and data.
• Strengthen network security, threat monitoring, and incident response.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, DORA, MiCA, PCI DSS.
• Develop Business Continuity (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP).

Business & C-Level Collaboration

• Align technology decisions with business strategy and profitability.
• Assess the cost-effectiveness and ROI of tech investments.
• Work closely with executive leadership to drive innovation and competitive advantage.

Regulatory Compliance & Audit Readiness

• Ensure full compliance with international regulatory requirements.
• Lead the technical side of audits & certifications to maintain operational integrity.
