We are searching for an experienced Middle / Senior Manual QA Engineer to join our Data Platform team that processes and analyses large amounts of data, prepares data for business management, and contributes to the development of process automation in the company.
We are hiring remote specialists. Unfortunately, we have a hiring freeze in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, but we will be happy to hire people who have already relocated from Russia / Belarus / Ukraine.
What you will do
- Perform manual testing and software quality assurance.
- Compare the data in the source and in the database for duplicates / distortions after saving, and find the cause of inaccuracies.
- Analyze the logic of data changing, and check its compliance with the requirement in the task.
- Write documentation about data processing in Data Warehouse.
- You will check and verify large amounts of data using various tools.
- Write test plans, test cases, status reports, and summary reports.
- Talk through a Test plan, its implementation with engineers & what might break as part of a story.
- Focus on operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions, taking on projects that improve your team’s software, making it better and easier to maintain.
- Come up with a testing strategy for every release, including exploratory testing, to give us confidence that no major regressions are introduced & the changes are working as expected.
The ideal candidate
- Should have a deep understanding of SQL and like to analyze / compare data using both SQL language capabilities and auxiliary tools (e.g., Excel). They are not afraid to learn new software products as well as maintain documentation.
- We are looking for someone who can immerse themselves in the project and who will be a keeper of information and context, a project supervisor we can rely on.
- In our work, we use a Data Management System — Data Warehouse that is designed to enable and support business intelligence (BI) activities, especially analytics.
To be a successful one of the HomeBuddies, you must be results-oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with different groups within the organization, including the Web Development and Product Management Teams.
About you
- 3+ years of experience in web services and / or mobile application testing.
- Knowledge of basic terms, concepts, and types of testing.
- Understanding of the software development process, and the role of testing.
- Understanding of HTML + CSS.
- Understanding REST API.
- Strong analytical skills (mandatory skill).
- Good knowledge of SQL (mandatory skill).
- Strong Excel experience (no kidding, periodically, you will need to compare arrays of data and excel helps a lot in that).
- Excellent knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
- Excellent understanding of theory (fundamentals, methods, and types of testing) and the ability to apply them in practice.
- Experience working in an Agile environment (understand the difference between Scrum / Kanban).
- Ability to use development tools in a browser.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good is written and verbal communication skills.
- Love working in a collaborative environment with a strong focus on teamwork, innovation, and open-mindedness.
- A good level of English (especially written), Intermediate +. Fluent Russian.
Nice to have:
- Experience in writing auto tests for REST API.
- Experience in automation testing using cloud services.
- In-depth understanding of software development process and life cycle, knowledge of software testing principles.
- Experience in creating Test Reports, Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Surveys, Acceptance Sheets, and Bug Reports.
