About the service

• Some of the most serious information security threats in the cloud stem from configuration errors, e.g., opening a resource to incoming network traffic from any IP address, or unauthorized access to data, e.g., granting public access to S3 buckets.
• Audit Trails is the platform’s main service that detects and prevents Information Security threats in the cloud, protecting users from these and many other threats. When someone interacts with cloud resources, services create audit events with information about their (attempted) actions, e.g., trying to upgrade to privileged access rights. Audit Trails gathers, processes, and delivers audit event data to users.

Our challenges

• Improve performance. Currently, the service only processes resource change events, of which there are hundreds of millions per day. We plan to connect other types of events, however — access logs, DNS requests, flow logs, etc. — which will increase the service load dozens or even hundreds of times.
• Monitor event integrity. Services themselves are responsible for generating events, since they have more context and knowledge about the nature of events. Audit Trails should perform syntactic and semantic validation of event content and monitor services that create events when someone interacts with cloud resources.
• Create cloud state resources. Many Information Security tasks are solved combining information about current resource states and changes to them (audit events). Our team plans to create a single state of all cloud resources and keep it updated.

You will

• Taking part in the full cycle of feature development and service support (studying, protecting, testing, and implementing design).
• Working with security engineers, solution architects, and other teams.
• Supporting stands 24/7, with some on-call duty.

Expectations

• At least three years of development experience in Java, or another ОО language (C++, C#, Kotlin, etc.) and want to switch to Java.
• Experience writing multithreaded code.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience developing distributed fault-tolerant high-load applications.
• Operations experience (deploying and supporting applications in production).
• Familiarity with cloud technology.
