About the product

The Virtual Private Cloud is a key product that connects all Cloud services and virtual machines with each other, as well as with remote users and client's local networks.

The reliability and resilience requirements of this service cannot be exaggerated, as there will be little to no means for troubleshooting if the network is not functioning. There are many reasons why having a virtual network over a physical one is a must-have for any competitive cloud solution. The most notorious advantages of the former are the following.

• Isolation. It should be impossible for one client to disrupt the work of the other by improperly configuring his network.
• Resource management. With virtual routers and virtual network interfaces, we can split physical network resources in arbitrary portions.
• Configuration speed and flexibility. For example, we can do a live migration of guest virtual machines from one physical host to another and there will be no need for the clients to re-configure their network at all.

The existing product is the combination of the advanced technologies from the world of networks, well-known open-source solutions and our know-hows. While Overlay team and Cloud Gateway team focus on a low-level part of the stack and work directly with networking interfaces and system core, VPC-API is more similar to a traditional microservice engineering. It is a product backend that has networks as its subject area and does the following.

• Manages VPC resources such as IP addresses, virtual networks, subnets, load balancers, security groups, etc.
• Ensures fault tolerance in case of hardware or software troubles, provides distributed and synchronized access to resources.
• Runs background tasks such as monitoring and health checks.
• Manages and configures underlying low-level network services.

You will

• Develop and test high-load multithreaded backend code in Java.
• Design API and resource model.
• Interact with low-level network services and grow your expertise in the thrilling world of modern networks.
• Ensure the proper operations of the existing clouds. All our engineers take an on-call role in turns.
